Some beneficial hints for storage
of Electrodes:
For storage and care of electrodes in workhouse the following is recommended:
Since the success of arc welding electrodes depends mostly on the quality of the coating, it shouldn’t be welded with the electrodes which all or part of their coating have been removed. If the coating becomes wet or humid, efficiency decreases, humidity causes the water vapor and welding spatter may increase and finish to porosity in the weld metal. According to the above, storage and proper operation on the electrode is necessary to obtain optimal results. Electrode’s coat is mechanically vulnerable and a little bit of carelessness or negligence in maintaining and shipping ultimate the low quality of coating.
For storage and care of electrodes in workhouse the following is recommended:
1. The electrodes should be kept at the proper storage chamber where the maximum temperature and minimum relative humidity is concerned in. the best conditions is the temperature of 26 ° C ±6 and 50% humidity max. |
2. Pay attention to setting or removing cartons and packages to prevent the damage of electrodes in a fall or adjacent parts collision. |
3. Bending of electrode and removing the electrode’s co ating is not allowed. |
4. Welding with rusted electrodes is prohibited. |
5. Electrode shall not exit the main store more than needed amount for approximately 2 days consumption. |
6. The manufacturer's instructions for pre-heating of the electrodes should be done correctly before use if required. |
7. When the electrode was exited from the store (or was exited from the dryer) the welder is responsible for the maintenance and care of it. |
